What I do

I work as an outsourced PR and marketing consultant helping brands of all sizes in the sport, entertainment and media sectors. I have spent over 40 years solving strategic, delivery and brand problems, working to pre-agreed projects to drive results. Typically I report into the senior management team and provide short-term help with specific marketing challenges.

Most recently I have been working across product launches, providing objective strategic planning and proposing delivery options within limited resources. I provide an honest, experienced and impartial role without the costly overheads, office politics or long-term commitment.

How I work

I am here to add value and solve marketing challenges. I want to pass on my experience and expertise to organisations that are looking for short-term fixes to marketing problems, be they difficult, complex or simply urgent. I will give you my honest opinion and get to the issues quickly and effectively.

About me

I have worked in senior roles for a number of sport and media clients. I’m equally adept at brand management, PR, traditional and digital media, as well as commercial planning. I am currently in a consultancy role with The Unicorn Group, working with renowned and award-winning brands Gunn & Moore, Unicorn Darts, PowerGlide Cues and Molten Sports.

I suppose I’m what you’d call an all-rounder and I’ve been involved during my career in a variety of diverse activities, for example and in no particular order:-

• Doing PR for a national newspaper (The Daily Express)
• Producing videos for Sony and Camera Weekly – both brand leaders in video at the time
• Helping put one of the first darts tournaments on TV (Unicorn World Pairs, World of Sport)
• Organising Award Events for Haymarket Publishing – leading magazine publishers
• Working as a radio producer for BBC Radio and producing the radio show with world’s largest audience at the time (a prize for guessing)
• Helping take Unicorn Darts and Gunn & Moore to Sports Brands of the Year, darts and cricket respectively. (SGB Best Brands 2016).
• Recently being part of a small committee that organised much of the Oval 100th Test Match celebrations. (A volunteer for Surrey CCC. 2017)
• And perhaps my favourite – producing a promotional album of love songs for Durex. (Yes, it’s true!)

Privately I have also been a Trustee of The Lord’s Taverners charity and a member of both the General and Audit Committees of Surrey County Cricket Club.

I may not be anyone’s long-term solution, but I certainly have the knowledge and experience to help you realise your short-term marketing ambitions. I will be honest and straightforward in my approach and speak to you in plain English.
