Take the carbon load off your shoulders with Gregory’s RESIN daypacks
Specialist backpack company Gregory is launching a new range of daypacks built entirely from post-consumer recycled fibres; in other words, from plastic rubbish.
Gregory established that the carbon footprint of its new Resin packs is 58% lower than using conventional nylon. By using recycled materials, Resin packs also save 49% energy and 39% water during production.
Working with CSR software developer Sphera, Gregory has developed a product lifecycle analysis tool that measures environmental impact from development all the way to product end-of-life. This allows Gregory to create a comprehensive eco-profile for each pack, including the total materials and energy consumption from sourcing and processing the raw materials, through production and logistics. The analysis calculates the remaining carbon footprint for each product, and a tag on the pack lets the user know how they can offset that footprint by choosing to walk, bike or hitch a certain distance instead of driving.
Functionality remains king. Resin packs feature an extra-wide main compartment opening, sturdy front handles, secure-zippered exterior pockets and internal organisers. All include padded laptop sleeves; in the Resin 26L and 30L close to the back, accessible from the outside, and in the 24L integrated into the main compartment. There are side bottle holsters, airmesh backs and shoulder harnesses, plus sternum straps for stability.
