Carly Telford launches first women’s only goalkeeping gloves

The England and Notts County goalkeeper (pictured) has launched the first ever goalkeeping gloves designed specifically for women.

Precision Goalkeeping, which also provide gloves for Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, has developed a range with a narrower fit, reduced finger length and tighter backhand to suit female hands.

Telford says: “It’s always a struggle to find a glove that fits my hand because although a lot of the time gloves say they are designed to be unisex, they don’t always fit a female hand correctly in a way which aids goalkeeping.

“After speaking to Precision Goalkeeping, they offered to create a glove specifically for me and for women that would feature reduced finger length and a tighter fit.

“The glove has already been a massive benefit to me and I’m finding it helps to improve my game significantly.”

David Sanderson, brand director at Precision Goalkeeping, said that once the requirement became apparent, the company was happy to get involved.

He explains: “Carly had previously been using a set of men’s gloves that weren’t a great fit for her hands.

“We found a problem the women’s game had and wanted to be able to solve it to help all those female keepers out there struggling with equipment that isn’t quite right for them in terms of size or fit.

“The main benefit is that it actually fits a female hand.

“Men’s gloves are often too big across the palm area, which leaves excess material and means the keeper is disadvantaged in the game.

“The new Fusion X women’s glove range allows the goalkeeper to get a better feel and control of the football and we’re delighted we could help the women’s game continue to grow.”
