‘Alfie’ sportswear

‘Alfie’ sportswear

Gareth ‘Alfie’ Thomas, Wales’ leading try scorer and most capped player, has teamed up with Linebreak, the Official Base Layer Supplier to the Welsh Rugby Union, to produce his own branded line of training and leisurewear aimed at children from six years upwards and adults of any age and size.

Alfie is famous for his tattoos, but one carries a special meaning to him - the star tattoo on his elbow. Linebreak has taken this design, and Alfie’s signature, and made this the basis of the brand.

The trainingwear comprises a range of tight-fitting base layers that uses the best fabric to offer support, comfort and temperature regulation for the wearer. Featuring undershorts, long-sleeve tops and bottoms, these items are ideally worn during training and matches to keep the wearer comfortable, give them extra support around the joints and keep them cool in the heat and less chilled in the cold.

The leisurewear is a first in the market place. Using the world’s first dual layer fabric - called DUA-TEX - the fabric provides the proven comfort of natural cotton against the skin, overlaid with leading-edge moisture transfer fabric, keeping the skin drier at all times.

Says Thomas: “I want to be involved in a brand that provides the wearer with some benefits. In my training camps we see all types of ill-fitting training clothing being worn because it is the ‘in thing’. Now we can offer these wearers a range for all ages and all styles. The trainingwear is for the pitch and the leisurewear is for the stand in the Millennium Stadium. I look forward to looking out into the crowd and seeing my tattoo staring back at me!”

The range is to be launched at the Gareth Thomas training academies in August and will be available in-store for the Rugby World Cup.
