Personal Training management company, YOUR Personal Training (YPT), is calling on the sector to get behind its 4 x 4 x 48 challenge to raise funds for Armed Forces charity Help for Heroes.
The YPT senior leadership team will be taking part in the gruelling two-day trial, which will see them run four miles every four hours for 48 hours, at the Waterside Hotel and Health Club in Manchester on 20/21 October.
James Lorey, Operations Director at YOUR Personal Training explains: “There is a natural synergy between the armed forces and personal training; Help for Heroes was the obvious choice for us following what has been a difficult time for charities, as many of our staff and PT’s have served in the British Military.”
Help for Heroes puts veterans at the heart of every decision it makes. Every £1 it spends on fundraising raises £4 to help the charity support our wounded. In a bid to raise as much money as possible, YOUR Personal Training is now extending an open invitation for other PT’s and fitness enthusiasts to complete the challenge locally across the UK.
Lorey says: “The 4 x 4 x 48 challenge was made famous by former US Navy Seal and ultra-marathon runner David Goggins. The challenge is simple - complete four miles, every four hours over a period of 48 hours - but that’s almost two marathons in two days, so despite its simplicity, this challenge is a real test of resilience, endurance and willpower. The sheer frequency of activity with limited recovery and lack of sleep makes it a test for any athlete. Are you up for the challenge? Would your facility like to participate? Who can complete the challenge with the best time?”
Trevor Fudger, Area Fundraising Manager for Help for Heroes, says: “The YPT 4 x 4 x 48 challenge is a real game changer, and not for the faint hearted, so we are really excited to see the fitness industry getting on board, and hope the YPT team can inspire as many people and organisations to participate and donate as possible.
“We believe those who serve our country deserve support when they’re wounded. Every day, men and women have to leave their career in the Armed Forces as a result of physical or psychological wounds. We help them, and their families, to recover and get on with their lives. The Charity has already supported more than 26,500 people and won’t stop until every wounded veteran gets the support they deserve.”
The YPT 4 x 4 x 48 Challenge will be taking place on the 20th and 21st October 2021.
