Prostar puts kits to the test

After over 100 years of kitting out sports teams nationwide, Prostar has finally founded its own football team – Prostar FC.

Prostar warehouse manager, Colin Sowerby, founded the team after a five-a-side tournament and it has been officially accepted into the Wakefield District League. Says the new club manager and secretary: “I arranged the tournament last year as a social event for Prostar staff. It highlighted the football talent we have within the company and created a brilliant sense of team spirit both on the pitch and at work.

“I suggested the idea to Prostar’s management team and they backed it 100 per cent. The lads really look the part when they’re out on the pitch and I’m sure they will do us all proud.”

Says Shane Bray, club chairman and Prostar’s sales and marketing director: “It’s incredible to think that although the company has been around since 1899, we have never had our own football team. We’ve provided kits for teams the length and breadth of the UK and now we’ve finally established our own.

“From what I’ve seen of the team, they work really well together so I have high hopes for them. It shouldn’t be long before they start working their way up the league.”
