Following eight years away, Chris Melton is returning ‘home’ to inov-8 as the new global category manager for Cross Training. He will also head up the company’s distribution of innovative sports footwear and apparel for Central and South America.
The 42-year-old from Hopkinton, Massachusetts, US, previously worked for inov-8 between 2011 and 2014, holding the position of General Manager of the Americas and Head of Fitness & Training. He helped oversee big growth in the US training category throughout this period, buoyed by the success of the brand’s popular F-LITE footwear franchise.
Chris, who joins inov-8 from Runderwear, said: “Even while with other brands following my inov-8 days, I never stopped wearing inov-8 product, and have still remained passionate about what inov-8 stands for. I feel like I’m coming ‘home’ and I couldn’t be happier to be back with the best all round footwear brand in the world.”
The dad-of-two enjoyed five years at Vibram between 2014-2019, managing all the Vibram FiveFingers and Furoshiki business in North and South America, as well as distribution in Australia and Japan.
He then worked for Gill Marine – a sailing and fishing apparel company – before joining Runderwear as Head of North America.
Chris will lead a strong inov-8 Cross Training team who all live and breathe both the brand and the sport – just like the company’s run and hike category teams.
Wayne Edy, who founded inov-8 in 2003, said: “I’m really excited to have Chris back. He has a huge amount of experience, plus a deep knowledge and love of the inov-8 brand. I’m confident he can help steer the brand towards significant global growth in the exciting Cross Training category.”
