The second annual the British Association for Sustainable Sport (BASIS) Sustainable Sport awards will take place on November 1, 2022, at Stamford Bridge, home of Chelsea FC, hosted by Sky Sports news presenter Mike Wedderburn.

The lunchtime event brings together sports clubs, governing bodies, venues and sustainability focused organisations to celebrate the fantastic sustainability projects and initiatives that are taking place across the UK and helping to harness the power of sport for a more sustainable future.

BASIS continues to grow and now boasts a community of over 1500 clubs, venues and individuals with representatives from most UK sports. It continues to support sports clubs, venues and governing bodies with advice on sustainability, providing a recognised framework, training, certification, sharing platform and continuing to be a leading voice in the UK on sustainable sport.

Dr Russell Seymour, CEO of BASIS, explains: “The benefits of different organisations sharing ideas, best practice and solutions are huge, and our awards gives the sector a terrific opportunity to share and celebrate these.”

Last year nominations included Southampton FC, Shoreham FC, Norwich City FC, Sky Sports, The Thoroughbred Breeders Association, Planet Earth Games and The RYA. BASIS Also recognised Athletes Joe Cooke, Melissa Wilson and Hannah Mills for their contributions to this sector.  To watch an overview of last year’s event click here.
