Beyond the Basics: Using Social Media for Business Impact and Results
On 23rd September the Federation of Sport and Play Association (FSPA) held a free full day social media seminar for its members in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.
The seminar entitled ‘Beyond the Basics: Using Social Media for Business Impact and Results’ was aimed at a mid-experience/advanced audience and was split into 4 sessions covering:
• Using social media for reputation management and to develop brand awareness - looking at examples to demonstrate how integrated campaigns can be used to create brand ‘impressions’ or to manage poor reputation/good reputation, including customer care
• Using social media for sales, pitching and strategic planning - understanding the opportunities presented by digital tools to support these fields and provide added value
• Measuring return on investment in web-based marketing - looking at ways we can use the various tools to get better understanding of audiences, activities and contribution to the bottom line
• Recent developments in social and digital media - what the future looks like
The seminar was led by Helen Hammond. Helen is a marketing and business development specialist working for organisations across the UK and the USA for Elephant Creative. Elephant Creative deliver marketing, PR, social media and business development expertise in plain English.
Lunchtime one-to-one ‘surgery’ sessions that attendees were able to book ten minute slots in proved to be beneficial for members to discuss their individual social media problems. When considering social media in general and the seminar in particular David Hughes from Falmouth Golf Club said “Complex and fast evolving subject clearly and incisively explained.” Becky Davison, Marketing Manager from Safari Sports echoed this sentiment when she commented “The information given was informative, easy to understand and inspiring.”
Ciara Morgan, FSPA Marketing Manager said “Helen offered FSPA members a bespoke seminar, she used relevant examples and delivered common-sense content both in the advice she gave and the way she phrased it.” She continued “Those that attended now have a clearer idea how to utilise the various social media platforms to contribute to business growth.”
The FSPA promotes the benefits of physical activity across its 14 trade associations and approximately 500 member companies within the UK sports and play sectors. At the seminar there were members from the API, BGIA, PPA, SPE and UKGCOA. In the coming months the FSPA will be holding additional free seminars for its members on Internet Platforms and Exporting.
