STAG show: “Best ever”

Fresh from its triumphant show in Ireland, STAG’s UK Buying Show at the Four Pillars Hotel seems to have delivered the goods once again.

Nearly 70 brands attended the Cotswolds event on November 21-22, most of which enjoyed a successful show.

Two companies Sports Insight spoke to said it was the best STAG show they’d attended.

“It was the best one so far,” George Sandison of Caribee distributor Brand Agility confirmed.

“We phoned round everyone in advance, which made a difference to the number of visitors to our stand.

"We met a few old faces and have 12 new customers. Overall we’re very pleased."

Graham Richards, brand director - sales and marketing at Ronhill and Hilly, echoed Sandison’s sentiments: “It was our best ever STAG show, particularly the number of new account enquiries.

“The STAG show is a very important event for us, and a great forum for both suppliers and members alike.”

Paul Sherratt, country manager - UK for uhlsport and McDavid, said that while he thought attendance was down on last year, the quality of visitors to his stand was high: “Thus we had a very strong show.”

So did Winmau. “Our orders were up on 2009, and credit must be given to all at STAG for their hard work in ensuring that the show was a major attraction to the members,” says Ian Flack, the company’s sales and marketing director.

“We’d like to thank all the members for attending and showing such an interest in our new 2011 range.”

Mercian managing director Simon Mason described the show as a great success: “We have worked closely with STAG for many years and that relationship is being rewarded, particularly now when the market is fairly tight.

“STAG members are showing great brand loyalty to us and seem to be valuing the products and services that we offer.”

Robert Pringle, sales and marketing director of Harrows Darts, says: “The STAG show was once again a great success for us.

“We have had a supplier relationship with STAG from the first day that John Fisher started the company, and it has been exciting to see the growth of the company under Ward Robertson and Ricky Chandler’s ownership.

“They always deliver on expectation and this year’s show saw a good attendance, great venue and a positive atmosphere all round.”

Richard Brand, sales director at Samurai International Sportswear, congratulated the STAG team on such a professional event. "We had a great show, generating lots of orders and leads," he says.

"The STAG Buying Show also affords us a good opportunity to catch up with fellow manufacturers and discuss environmental and economic issues affecting the trade and business in general."
