Maru Swimwear launches its new spring/summer 2008 collection on January 1, 2008 in over 400 UK sports shops, as well as a range of online retailers and health clubs.

Right across the board, from its core Aqua Sport swimwear designed for the competitive/fitness swimmer, to its sporty Aqua Leisure and Aqua Kids range, Maru is introducing a range of striking new swimwear in vibrant colours, patterns and fabrics developed for optimum performance. New swim equipment items, from must-have children’s quick-release goggles to brightly coloured, short training fins, have also been added.

Says Roger Allen, director of Maru Swimwear: “Maru’s new spring/summer 2008 collection has something for everyone. Maggie Upton, Maru designer and fellow director, has developed a range of outstanding new swimsuits and fabric designs for both the competitive and leisure swimmer which are more vibrant and eye-catching than ever, without compromising on fit or performance.

“Our new collection clearly demonstrates that Maru is once again leading the way, not only in swimwear design and style, but also in technical innovation.”

THE MARU 2008 SPRING/SUMMER SWIMWEAR AND EQUIPMENT COLLECTION

AQUA SPORT RANGE
Aimed at the active swimmer who trains or swims regularly, the Aqua Sport range is specifically styled with individual body shapes and sizes in mind and engineered for performance.

New to the women’s range is the athletic-look 'Thin Strap', which is to be the design for spring/summer 2008. Manufactured in Lycra, the Thin Strap swimsuit comes in three-tone bold colours or bright, vivacious prints.

A number of dynamic new designs have also been introduced into Maru’s very popular Pacer range of suits, manufactured using the high chlorine resistant, long-life fabric Pacer, which also provides UV protection of UPF 50+. Most popular among these new designs is the Ignite Pacer in black, with a striking red and pink or blue and yellow/gold pattern.

The trend in men's club shorts and jammers is set to continue in 2008. New for the Maru Men’s Collection is the cool Kaleidoscope Jammer, featuring black with orange and blue patterned side panels. Also new is the Lycra Spooks Jammer in a geometric blue, white and black design.

AQUA CLASSIC RANGE
Designed for fit and comfort with high backs, low legs and bust support, the Aqua Classic range introduces several new designs this season, including the Oceanic Swimsuit in bright blue and pink with adjustable straps and flattering body-contouring seams. Also new is the Aquarius Legged Suit, a high-back suit, ideal for aqua aerobics. Other popular suits in this range feature pretty embroidery appliqués or brightly coloured piping, which enhance the fit, shape and design of the suit.

AQUA LEISURE RANGE
Perfect for the pool or beach, the sporty yet stylish Aqua Leisure range includes both one-piece suits (halter-neck and thin-strap style) and two-piece tankinis in bright, hot summer colours of blue, aqua, pink and nectarine. The swimsuits feature pretty appliqué designs, while the tankinis are in solid two-tone colours.

Following the success of the 2007 men’s range, Maru continues to offer stylish swim shorts and cool board shorts in varying lengths (17”, 19” and 21”), colours and styles. The shorts are manufactured in a quick-drying, micro fibre fabric called Tactel, which has a soft, peach-like feel. New this season is the Anchor Short in blue with contrasting side panels and the Charter Short with stitch detailing and embroidered logos. All shorts offer two side pockets and a back pocket.

AQUA KIDS RANGE
Targeting 6-14-year-olds, the Aqua Kids range features brightly coloured, thin-strap suits and tankinis with embroidered butterflies or body-contouring piping. In addition, there are a series of fun, yet high-spec suits in brightly coloured, blue or orange daisy print fabrics, a multi-coloured jelly beans design, as well as a wild pink sparkle leopard skin patterned suit called Tiger.

MARU SWIM EQUIPMENT
Maru also provides a full range of high-quality swim equipment, ranging from bags to hats and from floats to swim shoes and goggles. Designed for swimmers, the Maru bag range includes brightly coloured mesh bags, backpacks and swim bags complete with large internal wet pockets.

Kids will love the new Power Anti-Fog Goggle featuring quick strap adjustment in lime, pink and blue, while new for adults is the Zone Anti-Fog Sport Goggle, a one-piece soft frame goggle also featuring built-in quick strap adjustment. Maru’s range of multi-coloured and fun silicone kids swim hats will delight, as will the pink and orange short training fins.
