Organiser Messe Munchen blamed the demands of the World Cup and the hot summer temperatures for the low levels of German trade visitors. However, the number of visitors from central and Eastern Europe, India, North and South America, China and Japan was up on last year, while new areas such as the Kids' Zone, Golfwear Village and Boardsport Village attracted considerable interest.
Says Manfred Wutzlhofer, CEO of Messe Munchen GmbH: "Despite all changes in the market, the positive reaction was significant, especially from exhibitors who sell sportswear. We see the future role of ispo summer especially in this sector.
"We are going to develop our concepts and marketing strategies further to this end. We are especially going to expand ispovision and the new platforms in the sportswear sector - Kids, Golf, Surf, Beach - and integrate outdoor, running, triathlon and Nordic correspondingly."
