Intersport UK has appointed Barry Mellis (pictured) as its new general manager. Mellis replaces Paul Nash, who left the company in August.
Mellis, who spent 19 years with adidas, joined from New Balance where he held the post of sales director Europe. Intersport UK members trade from more than 150 retail floors and Mellis will be responsible for further developing the Intersport brand throughout the UK and Ireland.
Says Mellis: "I am delighted to join the largest sports retail group in the world and look forward very much to working with the Intersport members throughout the UK and Ireland. The Intersport brand has huge credibility and is the true sporting retail channel for the sports user worldwide. The potential for growth within Intersport UK is very exciting and I look forward to capitalise on this and to help current and new members increase their sales, profitability and competitiveness."
