Sport Industry Group and Barclays Launch New Initiative to identify the future Leaders Of The Sport Industry

18th June 2015, London: Sport Industry Group and Barclays have launched a new platform which will identify, reward and nurture tomorrow’s leaders within sport; Sport Industry NextGen, in partnership with Barclays.
Recognising that sport with ethical and honest leaders at the helm can have a profound, positive and transformative effect on the world it inhabits, Sport Industry Group and Barclays will work with the wider industry to recognise and mentor the individuals who will be responsible for guiding the future of the sport industry.
To embrace the challenge of helping to identify and nurture the future leaders of the sport industry, the inaugural Sport Industry NextGen Awards will be held in London on Wednesday 27th January 2016 and entries are now open at www.sportindustry.biz/NextGen
The Sport Industry NextGen Awards will reward entrants across the following six categories: Agency, Athletes, Brand, Entrepreneur, Media and Rights Holder. Split into two phases, the judging process will first draw up a shortlist of five entrants per category based on an initial online entry. The second stage will see the thirty selected Finalists face interviews and further assessment from influential figures from across the sport industry during an educational working session, created to help them address the key issues facing leadership in the sport industry.
The judges for the Awards are a group of experts and leaders with a wealth of experience spanning multiple key sectors and ages, they include: Alastair Campbell, writer and communications expert; Sir Keith Mills, entrepreneur and deputy chairman of LOCOG; Maggie Alphonsi, women’s England and Saracens player; Nathan Homer, head of global sponsorship and partnerships, Barclays; René Carayol, CEO, Inspired Leaders Network; Sophie Goldschmidt, chief commercial officer, RFU; Kate Robertson, co-founder, One Young World; Jackie Brock-Doyle, chairman, Good Relations; Matt Clifford, co-founder and CEO, Entrepreneur First; Alexandra Chalat, managing director, thinkBeyond; Leon Mann, sports journalist; Matt Kepple, founder, Makerble and Brie Rogers Lowery, country director, Change.org.
The six category Winners will be recognised at the Sport Industry NextGen Awards ceremony, held on the same evening as the working session.
Finalists and Winners will receive three key areas of support to better equip them for future leadership roles, including; specialist business training from Barclays and other Sport Industry NextGen’s partners, membership to René Carayol’s Inspired Leaders Network, a 24 hour Army leadership experience with the Inspirational Development Group, in association with the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, regular professional networking opportunities via access to the multiple events within the Sport Industry Group portfolio, and personal development and mentoring from a selected range of influential leaders within sport.
