BGIA appoint Philip Morley as independent executive chair

The British Golf Industry Association (BGIA) is to appoint its first independent executive chair. Experienced business adviser and consultant, Philip Morley, joins the BGIA with a remit to lead the Association’s strategic direction.
Morley has worked with some of the leading golf brands in various sales, marketing and management roles in the UK and across Europe. He brings significant knowledge of the golf industry into the role, is also a PGA member, former member of the European Tour and has recently gained experience in golf club management. He will be supported in his new role by elected members of the BGIA Board.
Nigel Freemantle, the outgoing chair, said: “Philip brings a powerful combination of expertise, insight and experience from both the golf industry and the wider business world. I’m confident the BGIA will benefit enormously from his fresh thinking. Ciara Morgan, BGIA manager, and Jane Montgomery, managing director of the Federation of Sports and Play Associations (FSPA) are very much looking forward to working with him.”
Philip Morley said: “I’m looking forward to working with the BGIA board and its members. It is important that as the golf industry’s leading trade association, the BGIA is a forward-looking, thought-leading, contemporary organisation with clear goals. We want to build effective alliances with other organisations that are working to grow the game, so that together we can drive change.”
